Savills has appointed David Jackson as head of energy and sustainability division Savills Earth.

The new Savills Earth advisory team has more than 80 energy and sustainability specialists who will advise the broker’s clients on their sustainability, energy and carbon strategies.

Jackson, who is a UK board director at Savills, has been in real estate for more than 30 years and joined Savills in 1998, most recently as head of its ESG working group and head of planning. He recently advised Thomas White (Oxford) Ltd on Oxford North, a science and technology-linked mixed-use development, which achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification across all its commercial buildings.

James Sparrow, CEO of Savills UK & EMEA, sid: “Sustainability is at the heart of the very best property advisory and is central to everything we do as a business going forward, and the advice we give our clients. Savills Earth brings together our broad ranging team of experts to deliver the very best sustainability strategies through practical advice that transforms working practices and exceeds sustainability targets and commitments.”

Jackson said: “As an industry we are uniquely placed to plan, build and manage the built and natural environment in a way that responds to the pressing range of environmental and social issues that society is faced with.  The transition to Net Zero alone raises many possibilities, from creating new futures for existing buildings through retrofitting, applying new technologies to improve property performance, or changing how we manage land to deliver nature-based solutions.”
