SEGRO launches community investment plans
SEGRO has launched community investment plans for seven key areas in the UK.
The industrial and logistics specialist says the plans will provide “tangible economic and social benefits for thousands of people in the communities closest to the company’s operations”.
The core objectives are to help young and disadvantaged people into sustainable employment, support the growth of local economies and deliver projects which enhance biodiversity and the local environment.
The plans cover SEGRO’s major operational areas in the UK, including Slough, Greater London, Northampton, Coventry and the East Midlands.
By the end of 2025 SEGRO expects to engaged 20,000 students through schools programmes, provided training for 1,500 vulnerable or unemployed people and delivered 60 local biodiversity projects.
David Sleath, CEO at SEGRO, said: “A huge amount of work has gone into creating these plans, from finding the right local delivery partners and harnessing the collective drive of colleagues to identifying projects and initiatives that will deliver real, long-term benefits for those in and around the communities in which we operate.
“Critically we haven’t just created the plans, we’ve already started delivering initiatives within them, working with our customers, suppliers and charity partners to benefit thousands of people this year alone.”
Similar plans are being developed for SEGRO’s continental Europe markets.
