Savills IM launches natural capital division with new hire

6th June 2024

Savills Investment Management has appointed Andrew Dreaneen as global head of natural capital.

In this newly-created role he will work with Savills UK’s rural advisory practice, which employs 790 professionals across 34 UK offices and manages more than 3.5 million acres of land.

Savills IM, which has more than €25 billion ($27 billion) in assets under management, said it aimed to “offer a global platform of natural capital strategies focusing on commercial forestry, rural land management and nature-based solutions”.

Dreaneen joins from Schroders, where he spent 23 years, most recently as head of alternatives, focusing on natural capital. His role covered fund investments in forestry, farmland and conservation-based strategies, as well as direct investments in natural climate solutions and carbon markets.

Alex Jeffrey, CEO of Savills IM, said: “We believe the Savills Group is uniquely positioned to offer institutional investors an integrated platform with deep capabilities in rural investment and management.”

Dreaneen said: “There is increasing institutional demand for natural capital strategies but very few compelling products on the market. While natural capital is a relatively new concept, Savills is one of the only firms which offers the full suite of in-house capabilities to institutional investors and a genuinely diversified rural land management strategy.”
