HSBC launches first Paris-aligned real estate ETF

19th March 2024

HSBC Asset Management has created a new exchange-traded fund (ETF) for real estate investment aligned with the carbon reduction goals of the Paris Agreement.

The snappily-titled HSBC FTSE EPRA Nareit Developed Climate Pairs Aligned UCITS ETF has been listed on the London Stock Exchange in Sterling and USD with further listings on European exchanges expected in the near future.

The fund is linked to the FTSE EPRA Nareit Developed Green EU PAB Index, which is constructed from the FTSE EPRA Nareit Developed Index universe, a globally recognized property benchmark covering real estate investment trusts (REITs) and real estate operating companies listed in developed markets across the world.

The index screens out non-compliant stocks and the remaining securities are then weighted to meet the requirements of the EU’s Paris-Aligned Benchmarks (PAB).

Similar funds have also been launched by BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse.
